Christmas is on its way, and North Canton is ready to kick off yet another Christmas Sing and Tree Lighting.
This year's event takes place Dec. 2, with events taking place on the Hoover Company lawn and along East Maple Street. The scheduled activities include a holiday performance by the Elite Silver Stars from 4:30 p.m.-5 p.m., followed by the Hoover High School Hi-Notes and Hi-Los.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a North Canton fire truck at 5:45. Then, Mayor Held and guests will light the Christmas tree. Santa will stay to visit with children in his special Santa House following the tree lighting.
Complimentary refreshments include hot chocolate from St. Paul’s LifeTeen Group and Bill and Mary’s Diner, coffee from the Washington Square Starbucks and cookies courtesy of the North Canton Chamber and Westfield Bank.
Popcorn and hot dogs will be available for purchase from the North Canton Jaycees with the proceeds benefiting the Stark County Hunger Task Force.
NCCS TV11 will tape the festivities for later broadcast.
The Christmas Sing and Tree Lighting is produced by the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of North Canton through the sponsorship of Westfield Bank and with the support of Maple Street Commerce.
