A Farewell

A little goodbye from your North Canton Patch editor, Morgan Day

Readers, I have enjoyed being a part of the North Canton community and covering the news in this city so much, but it's time for my farewell.

Monday was my last day as the editor of North Canton Patch (but don't worry, I'll be forever a reader). Now I'm off to my next adventure, which is in Springfield, MO.

As I prepare for the move, I wanted to say goodbye to those who have made covering North Canton such an awesome experience. And yes, I'm talking about all of you guys.

You never know when moving to a new city how well you'll fit in, or how well you'll make friends. Honestly, I hadn't expected to become so attached to this community, or so connected to the people in it. But you all made that easy. And for that, I'm grateful.

Not only did you make it easy to become at home here, but you made my job easier. I'm not saying running a news website was ever a cake walk (it wasn't), but having active, honest readers who care about their community was a huge help.

You called me, you emailed me, you texted me. I got so many story tips and ideas of what to write about because everyone here cares so deeply about North Canton and you want to see your children, friends and neighbors spotlighted for the good they're doing here.

I know you'll continue to do that as we transition to our new editor, John Deike. John is a graduate of Ohio University and is currently the editor of Cuyahoga Falls Patch as well. I've worked with him for more than a year as he's won over the Falls community.

I know he'll win you over, too.

North Canton, thanks for having me as a part of your community. Although this is a bittersweet goodbye, I'll definitely look back on the last two and a half years with tons of great memories.

— Morgan
