5 Things You Should Know About North Canton This Week

We found a cool event for North Canton ladies at the Pro Football Hall of Fame and lots more in our weekly 5-things update

1. What else would top our list today other than Labor Day? We hope you're enjoying the long weekend (that is, if you got a long weekend). Curious about the history of Labor Day? We've found a handy explanation on the U.S. Department of Labor's website.

2. And, because it's Labor Day today, North Canton City Council will not meet tonight; it will meet Tuesday night. We've got the agenda for you in the PDFs section of this update.

3. North Canton women can take part in the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Ladies' Night Thursday. We found this great write-up on the HOF website that explains more about prices, meals and what else is happening.

4. Don't want a ticket? Watch your speed, the warns this week in a media release:

In anticipation of the upcoming closure of Applegrove Street NE and the resultant detour, the North Canton Police Department would like to remind area motorists that the speed limit on Marquardt Avenue NE changes from 35 mph in Plain Township to 25 mph inside the city limits. The speed limit on East Maple Street is 35 mph.

Officers will monitor these areas closely and control traffic flow at the Marquardt/East Maple intersection during this time of increased traffic volume. Motorists are also encouraged to find alternate, convenient routes around the construction zone, which is expected to last about 60 days.
