5 Things You Should Know About North Canton This Week

Sign up this week for the North Canton Public Library's ice cream workshop (we don't have to twist your arm for that one, do we?), find out what's happening at this week's two city council meetings and see what our July 4 coverage entails

1. North Canton Patch will run its July 4 coverage Tuesday. That means you'll get to see a photo gallery of tonight's fireworks along with a video of the July 4 race. Keep your eye out for Patch photographer at the fireworks and North Canton Patch Editor at the race!

2. North Canton City Council will not meet tonight because of the holiday, but it will make up its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall. It also will have one extra meeting this week. That takes place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday inside City Hall. Council members will discuss the (maker of the EdenPure products)

The Canton Repository recently reported Andy Martin, New York resident and longtime critic of SCI, sued the city, saying it improperly passed the original ordinance for the tax credit as an emergency action.

The Rep said the city will discuss an ordinance that rescinds the occupancy grant it gave to SCI, and at the same time gives the grant back.

3. Looking to get outdoors this week? Stark Parks is making it easy for you. It's organized a free hike that takes place from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hoover Connector Trail. The last day to register is Wednesday, and you can find more info here.

4. Don't miss your chance to boost your knowledge about ice cream (Oh, and eat some, too!) at the  ice cream workshop at 6 p.m. July 13. Spaces are limited, so sign up this week at the adult and teen services desk to make sure you get in.
