Summer Sounds, Mad Libs, and the Van Gogh Club at Stark County District Library

Did you know the Stark County District Library is More Than Books? Each week your library presents numerous informative, inspiring, and entertaining programs for all ages, from children’s story times to book discussion groups, and computer classes.  This week’s schedule includes a summer band concert for all ages featuring the music of the Big Band Era, a program to help you understand your child’s early development, and silly, crafty Mad Libs for kids.

As always, each program listed below is linked to the Stark County District Library Events calendar, where you'll get more information about the program (such as the time the event is offered), and have the opportunity to register online or by phone to attend.

Do you like to make people laugh? You can bring your talent for comedy to the stage as the opening act for The Dewey Decibel Stand-Up Comedy Tour. The tour features Bill Hildebrandt, a regular headliner at the Riviera in Vegas along with Kevin Kramis performing an evening’s worth of comedy improv with audience participation at Perry Sippo Branch on August 30. Upload one minute of your best, original, library-friendly (i.e., “clean”) comedy to the Stark County District Library’s YouTube channel at www.StarkLibrary.org/dewey-decibel for a chance to be the show’s opener.  The site will be open for posting through August 11. The public gets to vote for the opening act during the week of August 12-18, and the video with the most “likes” will be the winner. We’ll notify the winner on August 19, giving you two weeks to prepare a five minute opening act for the August 30th show.
