Summer Reading Club Kick-Off, Soccer Camp, Women's Writers Circle, and How to Save for your Dream Home, this week at Stark County District Library

Summer is here and what better way to celebrate the warm weather than with your friends at Stark County District Library? This week brings a new Women's Writers Circle, a program with tips about how to save for your dream home, an exciting Soccer Camp with former Canton Invader Denzel Antonio, and Summer Reading Club Kick-Off Celebrations for the whole family at a branch near you. Now if we invent some waterproof books that can be read under the sprinkler, I'll be all set. Maybe there's an underwater iPad or Kindle in the works...

As always, each program listed here is linked to the Stark County District Library Events calendar, where you'll get more information about the program (such as the time the event is offered), and have the opportunity to register online or by phone to attend.

Women's Writers Circle begins on Tuesday, June 5 at East Canton Branch and will meet almost every week on Tuesday through the end of August. Everyone has a story to tell, so join us for discussion, encouragement, and tips for bringing your ideas and memories to life to share, save, and create a family legacy.

Get out of the summer heat and bring the kids (grades 1-6) to Children's Chess Club at North Branch. It begins for the summer on Thursday, June 7 and meets most Thursdays through August 23. Bring you own board for the home field advantage, or use one of ours.

On Saturday, June 9, you can learn strategies for saving your money to buy your dream home at Dream Big! More Affordable Homes. The program meets at Main Library and is the first of several excellent home information/home improvement programs planned for this summer at Stark County District Library. Here's a link to those programs.

Are you thinking about taking a trip to see the Big Mouse? When You Wish Upon a Star... Free Disney World Seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at Plain Community Branch. Presenter Michelle Boggs from Magical Memories will answer all of your questions about how to plan an unforgettable trip to the Magic Kingdom.

The first of the Stark County District Library Summer Reading Kick-Offs is scheduled for Monday, June 11 at Jackson Township Branch and Tuesday, June 12 at Madge Youtz Branch. The Kick-Off at Jackson features ice-cream, crafts, and contests, and the Kick-Off at Madge Youtz includes a visit from some real live nocturnal animals, courtesy of Stark Parks. Here's the full list of Summer Reading Kick-Off events for all the branches. These are a great way for families to spend an afternoon at the library, and each branch has different fun stuff planned.

Also on Tuesday, June 12 families can meet former Canton Invader Denzel Antonio at DeHoff Memorial Branch's Soccer Camp. Antonio will share tips for how to become a great soccer player. I've always dreamed of learning the bicycle kick myself.

There are many other excellent events planned at a branch of the Stark County District Library near you, including children's story times, book groups for adults, computer classes, programs for teens, and much more. For a full listing of events and programs, check www.StarkLibrary.org/eventscalendar and find something that enriches and inspires you today.
