Mother's Day Programs, Plant Swaps, eBooks and More this Week at Stark County District Library

Celebrate Mother's Day with us at Stark County District Library. This week they are several Mother's Day themed programs scheduled for you to spend some quality time with your mom, your grandmother, your aunt, or another special woman in your life. Get into the Spring spirit by picking up a new plant for your garden at one of our Plant Swaps, or get to know your Kindle eReader a little better (just in time for Summer Reading) at Kindles and Downloadable eBooks.

As always, each program below is linked to the Stark County District Library Events calendar, where you'll get more information about the program (such as the time the event is offered), and have the opportunity to register online or by phone to attend.

On Wednesday, May 9 you can swap coupons and strategies for saving money with other frugal coupon-clippers at North Branch's Coupon Club. Don't forget DeHoff Memorial Branch's Coupon Saving Club meets on Wednesdays as well. Get the brands you want at reduced prices.

Do you have a Kindle? Get to know your Kindle and how you can use the Ohio eBook Project through the library to download great books for free--all in time for Summer Reading at Kindles and Downloadable eBooks. This fun and informative program will be offered at Perry Sippo Branch on Wednesday, May 9.

Now is a great time to enliven your home or garden with a new plant. Bring a healthy plant to swap with gardeners at either the 5th Annual Plant Swap at Lake Community Branch, or the Plant Swap at Sandy Valley Branch. Both swaps are scheduled for Saturday, May 12. Sandy Valley's is indoors, so come out rain or shine.

Celebrate Mother's Day a little early at Perry Sippo Branch on Thursday, May 10 at Mother-Daughter Girls Night Out. Teens can show their mothers a little love by making them a beautiful flower corsage at Sandy Valley Branch on Saturday, May 12 at Make Mom a Corsage. At DeHoff Memorial Branch on Saturday, May 12, families can enjoy a special treat with their mothers at Mother's Day Pasta Salad Treat.

Local authors George Davis and Christopher Rudy return to SCDL on Monday, May 14 at Jackson Township Branch. They'll present their true crime book, The Last Victim, which chronicles the investigation and capture of one of Northeast Ohio's most dangerous violent criminals. Davis is a retired Akron Beacon Journal reporter and editor, and Rudy is a decorated criminal investigator.

Are you searching for a job? The Job and Career Accelerator is an excellent database that can help you sharpen computer skills, prepare for licensing and certification tests, build a successful resume, search available job listings, and much more. Learn how you can make it work for you at North Branch on Tuesday, May 15.

Teens who enjoy games of skill and strategy should check out Bridge and Books at Sandy Valley Branch on Tuesday, May 15. Bring a friend (it's a four-person game you play with a partner) and learn how to play the game and talk about the great books you've read, or plan to read.

There are many other excellent events planned at a branch of the Stark County District Library near you, including children's story times, book groups for adults, computer classes, programs for teens, and much more.
