Let Us Know What You Think, plus CookBook Club, Tips for Energy Savings and More this week at Stark County District Library

Let Us Know What You Think at SCDL Public Forums this week, plus CookBook Club, Tips for Energy Savings, and Best Bib and Tucker Consignment Shop presents T-Shirt Transformation.

Your opinion counts. Tell us what you think at a branch of Stark County District Library near you this week and meet some of the members of the library’s administration. Enjoy some literary fun this week as well with Regis McCafferty at More Poetry for Grownups, or join our Cookbook Club and enjoy a different cookbook each month while sampling healthy dishes and sharing recipes.  Put your home on a clutter diet with author Sharon Kreighbaum, then get yourself healthy and fit with exercise guru Sandra Taylor. And, I hate to say it, but as much as I want summer to hold on for a few more weeks, it seems fall is coming inevitably. That means winter is coming too, so learn to save on your energy bills at a special Energy Savings Seminar.

As always, each program listed here is linked to the Stark County District Library Events calendar, where you'll get more information about the program (such as the time the event is offered), and have the opportunity to register online or by phone to attend.

A de-cluttered home is a more comfortable home. Author Sharon Kreighbaum will visit DeHoff Memorial Branch on Tuesday, September 11 to present her new book, Is Your House Overweight? She’ll offer tips for putting your home on a clutter diet.

On Wednesday, September 12, Michelle DiBartolo, an attorney with Thomas, Trattner, and Malone will visit Main Library to talk about managing debt at Legal News You Can Really Use. She’ll discuss who to pay, what to avoid, how to respond, and where to go when your budget is in the red.

The library is hosting several public forums this week for you to tell us what you think about library services. How does the library impact your life? What could we improve? What role do you see libraries having in 20 years? Let us know at one of the Tell Us What You Think: Public Forums this week on Wednesday, September 12 at East Canton Branch, Saturday the 15th at Plain Community Branch, Monday the 17th at DeHoff Memorial Branch, and Tuesday the 18th at Sandy Valley Branch. Here’s the link to the full list of remaining Public Forums so you can attend one at a branch near you.

Next meeting: Friday, September 14.

On Saturday, September 15 at Main Library you can meet a Great Horned Owl, a groundhog, a bobcat, and other species of wildlife as Fran Kitchen visits from Operation Orphan Wildlife Rescue.

Are you a poet? Do you think about writing poetry, but are unsure where to begin? Join us at Jackson Township Library on Monday, September 17 for More Poetry for Grownups, and Regis McCafferty will discuss and explore the art of writing poetry. Bring an original poem of your own to share and discuss, and find out what the power of poetry can bring to your life.
