Coming to Stark County District Library: Summer Sounds with the Musical Memories Orchestra and the Canton Heritage Home Program

Enjoy summer sounds with a Big Band Concert this week. Plus family fun, and free home maintenance advice.

Enjoy the summertime this week at Stark County District Library as the Musical Memories Orchestra returns to Perry Sippo Branch with Big Band era fun. The Canton Heritage Home Program will be offered at two branches this week, with free expert advice on the design and construction of porches, and home maintenance and efficiency. Plus, more great, free, family fun with visits from Mister Jeff the Magician, the World of Difference Interactive Show, nocturnal animals, and our first ever K-12 talent show.

As always, each program listed here is linked to the Stark County District Library Events calendar, where you'll get more information about the program (such as the time the event is offered), and have the opportunity to register online or by phone to attend.

On Tuesday, July 24, discover Holistic Energy Therapy, and find out how to align your Mind, Body, and Spirit with Shelby Lynn from Infinite Light Wellness at Lake Community Branch.

Bring a blanket or a chair to Perry Sippo Branch on Wednesday, July 25 for Summer Sounds, and enjoy the Big Band music of the Musical Memories Orchestra. Composed of local musicians, the Orchestra will get your feet tapping on a summer’s evening with Big Band hits from the 20s to the 50s. The Perry Sippo Friends of the Library will provide ice cream. If it’s raining, come out anyway, and catch the show indoors. I’ll put in an early request for “Woodchopper’s Ball.”

The Canton Heritage Home Program continues with two programs this week. The first, on Wednesday, July 25, at Madge Youtz Branch, presents the history, design, and construction of porches.  The second program, on Thursday, July 26 at North Branch, is a presentation of home maintenance and efficiency. The Heritage Home Program is designed to help owners of older and historic properties maintain and repair their homes. Get free expert advice and resources to help your home project run smoothly. This program is provided by the Cleveland Restoration Society with support from the Stark Foundation, Community Building Partnerships of Stark County and the Canton Preservation Society.
