Art Programs for Teens, Technology Questions Answered, Genealogy, and Social Security Programs at Stark County District Library this week.

Programs at Stark County District Library this week include Genealogy, Social Security, a Technology Q & A, and great art programs for teens.

The Stark County District Library will offer a great program at branch near you this week. A sampling of the events planned for the next 7 days include Genealogy programs, a Technology Q & A with SCDL's Information Technology specialists, informative programs on Social Security, and several awesome Art programs for teens.

Each program below is linked to the Stark County District Library Events calendar, where you'll get more information about the program (such as the time the event is offered) and have the opportunity to register online or by phone to attend. Just as a word to the wise, if for some reason the links in my post don't work, you can always find these programs and their details at www.StarkLibrary.org/eventscalendar.

The coming week offers two Genealogy programs at SCDL: Family Genealogy on Wednesday, Feb 22 at Dehoff Memorial Branch will give you the tools you need to begin tracing your family's history. Genealogy: Using Census Records, at Jackson Township Branch on Saturday, Feb 25 will focus on what you can learn about your ancestors from federal census information. It's an exciting time for Genealogists because the 1940 Federal Census will be released soon.

The program will cover when to file, how long it takes, and other questions you may have. East Canton Branch will present Savvy Social Security on Tuesday, Feb 28. Mark Clendenin from Resource Financial Group, LLC will be on hand to explain Social Security, offer answers to your questions, and help you determine how to maximize your retirement income.

Stark County District Library's knowledgeable and friendly Information Technology specialists will be available to answer your questions about computers, software, eReaders, and anything else tech-related you can think of at East Canton Branch on Thursday, Feb 23 during Technology Q & A.

This is a great week for teens to learn some new art skills at the library. On Thursday, Feb 23 at Jackson Township Branch they can experiment with Alternative Photography: Cyanotype Prints with artist Emily Vigil from the Massillon Museum. Cyanotypes are made from light-sensitive paper to create beautiful blue-toned images. Additionally, at Perry Sippo Branch's Teen Art Club teens can make something cool using a new technique every month. This month's session meets on Monday, Feb 27. And, on Tuesday, Feb 28, East Canton Branch offers the Teen Writers' Cafe, where teen writers can hone their skills, share their creative writing, and get tips for getting their ideas on paper.

There are many other excellent events planned at a branch of the Stark County District Library near you, including children's story times, book groups for adults, computer classes, programs for teens, and one more program I can't help but squeeze in: Pruning Trees and Shrubs on Saturday, Feb 25, at Main Library with Master Gardener Jeanne Perenski. Learn the how, what, when, and why of pruning trees and shrubs, your lawn and garden will thank you for it.
