Barton Shroyer Fundraiser & Prostate Cancer Awareness Benefit

Barton Shroyer Fundraiser & Prostate Cancer Awareness Benefit - Friday, September 28th

Don Boyer, owner of Legends Sports Pub and Grille in Green, opened his doors for the Barton Shroyer Fundraiser and Prostate Cancer Awareness Benefit Friday, September 28.

Boyer said it was a no brainer to donate his pub and grille, food and a band for an incredible guy like Barton Shroyer. With help from family and friends, Shroyer's wife Terri planned this event to bring awareness to prostate cancer, to raise funds for Shroyer's medical bills and make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Silent auction items ranged from food and drink baskets, gardening items, jewelry, grilling tools, gift certificates and two tickets for the sold out ZZ Top concert. WONE, locally owned station of the Rubber City Radio Group, donated the sold out tickets as well as hundreds of dollars in gift certificates to local establishments and venues.

Christi Nichols, a 97.5 morning show co-host, came out to show her support for her close friends and neighbors the Shroyers. She also introduced North Canton's 7th Street Band, whose music accompanied many on the dance floor.

The Barton Shroyer Fundraiser and Prostate Cancer Awareness Benefit provided food, music and a silent auction but most importantly it raised awareness and money for such a great cause.

At the end of the night Terri had much appreciation for those who came to the event.

"I am overwhelmed with how many people showed up and have donated," she said.
