Don't let the word "mob" get to you.
This mob's a good one.
Patch is working alongside the to orchestrate a cash mob, where residents "mob" a locally owned business and purchase up to $20 in merchandise all at the same time. Why? Well, it's two-fold. It's a way to say "thank you" to the business owners who've stuck around the community and also a way to boost the local economy.
Cash mobs (a play on flash mobs) is a new craze started by a local Cleveland guy, Andrew Samtoy. , where customers stocked up on home supplies at Solon Hardware. , where folks flocked to Stow Sports Center to load up on sports gear.
Now it's North Canton's turn.
On Friday we'll run a list of North Canton businesses that we and the Chamber of Commerce thought might work well for a cash mob, and we'll ask you to vote for which business you think is most deserving.
Then we'll announce next week which business got the most votes, and from there we'll work to keep you informed as to when the cash mob will take place.
Stop back to North Canton Patch Friday to find our poll and vote on your favorite business. We're counting on you guys to make the city's first cash mob a success!
