Pita Pit is making its way to North Canton.
The restaurant, specializing in — you guessed it — pitas, will set up shop inside 1102 N. Main St., in a plaza with Guys Pizza and Booney & Pooch.
Pita Pit officials told North Canton Patch Tuesday that the restaurant will open in mid- to late-April. Construction has not started yet because the restaurant is awaiting permits.
According to Pita Pit's website, the closest restaurants to North Canton right now are in Kent, Fairlawn and Akron.
The directory listing for Pita Pit on Kent Patch reads:
Sandwiches (pitas) are just the beginning at Pita Pit. ... Customers can choose from a soup of the day, several delicious smoothies and a handful of desserts in addition to a wide variety of sandwiches ... each of which comes, not surprisingly, wrapped in a pita.
Those sandwiches include breakfast pitas, kids' pitas, traditional meat selections (such as chicken Caesar and Philly cheesesteaks) —and any sandwich can also be served as a salad entree.
Founded in Canada in 1997, Pita Pit offers a fairly healthy alternative to fast food fare.
