North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New Outreach Manager

She's already tweeting up a storm, updating the Chamber's Facebook page and reaching out to the community in other ways

If you’ve noticed the being a lot more vocal online, you can chalk that up to Christina Weyrick-Cooper.

The North Canton resident (and wife of North Canton Patch contributor ) started a new position at the Chamber about two weeks ago as its new outreach manager.

That means the voice behind the Chamber’s Facebook and Twitter page is Weyrick-Cooper, and she’ll spend time searching out sponsorship and grant opportunities, too.

She also will work to further the Chamber’s mission: to develop, enhance and represent business, stimulate community leadership and promote economic growth. One of the ways she’ll do that is by getting the word out about what exactly a chamber of commerce does for a community.

“I think being able to reach out to the community and let them know what it is and what we do is definitely going to help us represent businesses that are members here, and help develop more leadership with our community, and promote that economic growth,” she said.

The University of Akron grad holds a degree in communication and has worked with the Akron Symphony, the Capital Area Humane Society in Columbus and the Ohio State University.

She said she sees a lot of potential for growth in the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce, which comprises more than 400 members, and she looks forward to advocating for community support and encouraging others to do the same.

Within her first couple weeks, Weyrick-Cooper has grown the Chamber’s Twitter page to 70 followers, and the Facebook page, which already existed, is up to 275 “likes.”

She said she’s pleasantly surprised by the activity and interaction she’s seen on the social media sites and credits that to a tight-knit, active community.

Weyrick-Cooper can be reached via email at ccooper@northcantonchamber.org.
