Impulse’s ‘Biggest Winner Challenge’ Changes Lives

Chad and Kim Wagler offer a boot camp program transforming appearances and habits

Before she began boot camp May 31 at , Heather Kelley carried around excess weight and was plagued with chronic knee pain.

She now is embracing a new lifestyle, which she plans to keep, and enjoying improved health and mobility.

“I have lost 34 pounds since that day, and I will never look back,” Kelley said. “I don’t look at these classes as exercise. They are training me to continue to better myself and my life. They are making me stronger and have taught me to work smarter to reach my goals.”

Kelley is just one of numerous people who have gone through an eight-week boot camp as part of Impulse’s “Biggest Winner Challenge” and benefited from the physical fitness and educational components of the program.

The fifth “Biggest Winner Challenge” is taking place through the personal training studio. Impulse owners and husband and wife training duo, Chad and Kim Wagler, began the contest two and a half years ago after observing a similar and successful program out west. They hold the challenge twice a year, typically in the fall and middle to late January.

“We started with five contestants the first time we ran it, and we have 223 contestants part of the current challenge,” Chad said.

He said contestants collectively lost 2,000 pounds in just two years.

During the challenge, the Waglers instruct the contestants on how to live a healthier life and guide them through various exercise and muscle-building regiments.

“When I walked into the doors of Impulse, I wasn’t sure what this boot camp was that everyone was talking about, but I made it through the first 45-minute exercise class, and I knew I had found what I had been looking for.  I was hooked, and I haven’t stopped yet,” Kelley said.

Informational emails, workshops, weekly challenges and bi-monthly weigh-ins also are part of the “Biggest Winner Challenge.”

Chad said he and his wife weekly meet one-on-one with the contestants to optimize their weight loss and guide them in developing healthy eating habits for increased wellness.

“The trainers are not just trainers. They are your friends, your support system, and they give honest encouragement,” Kelley said. “At Impulse, it’s not about seeing how many people they can get in the door. It’s about helping people and bettering their lives.”

Chad said the goal is to keep his clients on the road to good health permanently.

“While we have them during the eight weeks, we try to empower them with as much knowledge and encouragement as we can so they can continue their journey after the contest,” he said.

Many of the contestants in the challenge continue to train at Impulse when it is over and several take part in the next challenge to stay in shape, Chad said.
