'Bras Along I-77' Gets Some Help From Studio Arts and Glass

The Bras Along I-77 is a breast cancer awareness effort through the Celtic Club, and Studio Arts and Glass in North Canton was happy to help with it

If you haven’t seen a string of bras hanging along I-77 in North Canton, you’re not looking hard enough.

The Celtic Club strung the undergarments from two lifts at to raise awareness for breast cancer. (Members had done the same thing at Crooked River in Kent, .)

“It’s such a good location because you get 120,000 people going down 77 every day,” said Wendy Joliet, owner of Studio Arts and Glass.

“We hope it gets a lot of attention.”

The bras, donated from people around the community, will go to battered women’s shelters and victims of natural disasters.

For the business, the awareness effort fits right into its fall festival, which featured local vendors, food and an adoption booth through the Stark County Humane Society today. The event takes place until 8 p.m., with a band from 6-8. Missed it today? The festival also runs from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.

Diane Neal, a board member of the Stark County Humane Society, said the event at Studio Arts and Glass also was a plus for the humane society, which had cats and dogs there available for adoption.

“It’s a different audience, a different group of people who might not come to the shelter,” she said.

Not to mention, the animals loved it.

“If nothing else, these dogs are getting sort of a spa day where they get out of the shelter and get a little more attention,” Neal said.

Up for adoption today were a few kittens, a Cavalier King Charles/Papillon mix named Toby and a 6- to 7-year-old dog named Elliot.
