Bites Nearby: Lucia's Steakhouse

Lucia's has been the place to go for steaks since 1941

North Canton Patch once again picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Lucia's Steakhouse

Overview: Lucia's occupied the red-shingled building on Mahoning Road in Canton for 66 years. Original owner Faith Anne Flickinger since has joined forces with partner Rob Johns and moved the operation to 4769 Belpar St. NW. Great steaks, Italian specialties and signature peppers remain mainstays on the menu.

Decor: You cannot mistake the newer and more spacious look of the restaurant. Once you have Flickinger greet you on your way in and you see the same menu you are used to, you feel right at home.

The Drinks: A full selection of beer, wine and liquor is available along with soft drinks, coffee and steady refills on your water glass.

Appetizers: Shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, deep-fried provolone cheese, sausage ragu and calamari are all available under $11.

Entrees: Fresh seafood and Italian specialties are listed on the menu, but it is hard to go beyond Lucia's famous broiled strip steak, filet mignon, porterhouse steak or veal T-bone pork chop. Price range on the steaks is $21 to $29.

House salad or soup, warm bread and a side of mushrooms, potatoes or pasta complement every meal. Don't forget the Lucia's peppers (medium or hot) for just $4.79 extra.

Desserts: Weekly specials are offered if you manage to save room. You can usually order cheesecake or something with chocolate in it.

Service: Reservations are strongly recommended by calling 330-492-9933. Major credit cards are accepted and parking is available in front and along the side of the restaurant.

Hours: 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4 p.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
