Akron-Canton Airport Opens Up Flights to Chicago, Denver With Arrival of Southwest Airlines

Airport and airline officials gathered Monday to celebrate the arrival of the airline to CAK

President and CEO Rick McQueen considers  "the most important air service development success in the history of our airport."

State and U.S. legislators, as well as airport and Southwest employees, media and customers, gathered Monday at a news conference to celebrate that success.

With the addition of Southwest, customers now will be able to take two daily round-trip flights to Chicago Midway and one daily round-trip flight to Denver.

The airport also threw a ," who got to watch and participate in a pie-eating contest and watch the first Southwest flight land at CAK.
