Stark County Citizens to Host "We Have Not Forgotten" Vigil and Call for Action on Gun Legislation

Local residents will hold a vigil and a call for action from their members of Congress to pass sensible legislation to reduce gun violence on Saturday, April 13th.

Local residents promoting federal legislation requiring universal background checks for gun purchases have gained support from 9th Ward Councilman Frank Morris. To demonstrate their support for this legislation, Stark County citizens will gather in a violence plagued area of Canton to take a stand against violence. This vigil is just one of many “We Have Not Forgotten” events scheduled for locations across Ohio and the United States to honor those victims and families of gun violence. The many loop holes in the current background check law allows 40% of gun purchases to occur without a background check. Passing legislation to require universal background checks, and closing the gun show loophole encourages responsible gun ownership. Anyone interested in participating in this event are welcome to join.

WHERE: Corner of 17th NE and Rowland Ave in Canton (location is significant because there have been many instances of gun violence there since this past summer)

WHEN: Saturday, April 13th at 12:00 pm
