'South Pacific' Brings Classic Love Story to North Canton Playhouse

The North Canton Playhouse is set to debut the classic love story story filled with prejudice and war

The North Canton Playhouse is set to debut "South Pacific," a classic love story story filled with prejudice and war.

"The background of the show stems from an age-old problem that we still have today, with inter-racial relationships, and about what life was like back then, and why it was a big hoopla," director Brenton Cochran said.

He anticipates the audience will love the classic musical numbers, the love story, and the passion shown through each of the characters.

North Canton Patch talked to Cochran, as well as actors Sarah Young, freshman education major at the University of Akron, and Tyler Jensen, senior at Barberton High School and also a University of Akron student, for the accompanying video.

Young also agrees the characters are what sets this musical apart.

"I think the audience is really, really going to fall in love with the characters in this show because we have such strong, eccentric characters," Young said. "It's just really fun to watch the chemistry between everyone on stage, and it's just a really fun show in general."

"South Pacific" debuts at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the North Canton Playhouse. Check here for more show times and ticket information.
