The presents Bye Bye Birdie, a musical adaptation of the book Let's Go Steady. It revolves around the hysteria created when an Elvis-like character is drafted into the U.S. Army and his managers decide to stage a publicity stunt that involves kissing one of his fan club admirers.
The play is directed by Lisa Paynter, who is also the executive director of the North Canton Playhouse. Paynter runs several workshops a year that focus on developing skills in emerging actors ages 7-13. They recently finished a workshop focusing on Disney's Aladdin and meet twice a week during sessions.
The play opens tonight and runs through Aug. 14. There are shows Thursday through Sunday, and you can buy tickets online or at the box office. More information is available at the North Canton Playhouse's website.
