Get Out: Historical North Canton Play, Rubber City Blues Fest and More

Whether you choose to stick around North Canton or head to Canton or Green, our Get Out weekend planner has something to make your weekend a little more entertaining

Where/When: ; 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: The North Canton Heritage Society presents this new one-act play about the life of New Berlin’s first black resident, Jacob Gaskins. (Remember, North Canton used to be called New Berlin.) Gaskins — a former slave, horse trader, farmer, landowner and aid to escaped slaves — lived on the land now occupied by the Fairways at Arrowhead Golf Course.
Pricing: Tickets are $22 for adults and $10 children under 12

2. 

Where/When: Legends Pub & Grille in Green; 10:30 a.m. Saturday
Why Go: Support the families of fallen Uniontown Police Capt. Daniel Stiles and injured Springfield Township Police Officer Mark Dodez, also a  graduate. Don’t forget, there will be a poker run and tons of blues bands, including !

3. SCOTCH DOUBLES GLOW BOWLING FUNDRAISER

Where/When: ; 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Help out the Buckeye Bearcats Semi-Pro Football team by attending their fundraiser. Plus, it shouldn’t be too difficult talking you into bowling on a Friday night. Let loose!
Pricing: Those with tickets pay $20 per pair, which includes three games of glow bowling, shoe rental and food. Those without tickets may pay $30 at the door.

4. LAUREN MANN AND THE FAIRLY ODD FOLK

Where/When: Muggswigz, 137 Walnut Ave. NW, Canton; 9 p.m.-11 p.m. Friday
Why Go: No 1: Cool name (the Fairly Odd Folk). No 2: Awesome piano skills. We were seriously impressed when we checked out this band on their Facebook page. What do you think?
Pricing: $4 suggested cover

Where/When: ; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Get to know a little bit more about this aviation museum and take part in some neat activities at the same time. Ever been fingerprinted? You’ll have your chance to that day. You’ll also get to hear from DARE officers.
Pricing: Free, but MAPS will accept donations
