"Talking to Jacob" Play

The North Canton Heritage Society is presenting a new one-act play “Talking to Jacob” about the life of New Berlin’s first black resident, Jacob Gaskins.  Gaskins, former slave, horse trader, farmer, landowner and aid to escaped slaves, lived on the land now occupied by the Fairways at Arrowhead Golf Course.  The play, which features local students, written by Rainbow Repertory Director Lois DiGiacomo and funded by a grant from Target Stores, will be given to all third-graders in the North Canton Schools during May, and at a public presentation dinner theater on Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m.  Tickets for the dinner and play are $22 for adults, $10 for children under 12.  Reservations can be made by calling the Society at 330-494-4791 by May 20.
