Whiz Kids: Brady Sabina and Anna Spuhler Raise Money for St. Baldrick's Foundation
Anna Spuhler was featured in an article in March for her brave decision to shave all her hair off. But this time she is sharing the limelight with teammate Brady Sabina, who also supported this worthy cause
This week's Whiz Kids — two again — come to us from Carrie Touchette, mother of Anna Spuhler and friend of Brady Sabina.
"Both kids shaved their heads to raise money for cancer research in honor of recently deceased family members," Touchette said. "Together, they raised over $1,700 and money is still coming in."
- Brady Sabina, 9.
- Attends Strausser Elementary in Jackson Township as a fourth-grader.
- Brady shaved his head at the annual St. Baldrick's event at in North Canton. After losing his grandmother this January to ovarian cancer, he was inspired to make a difference by supporting the St. Baldrick's mission to further research for childhood cancer.
- Anna Spuhler, 14.
- Attends as a freshman.
- Anna, Brody's teammate, lost her aunt to ovarian cancer. Not one to sit back and let things happen, she felt strongly compelled to shave all her hair in hopes that she might make a difference in the lives of others.
"I think it's amazing that these kids would do this in honor of fallen loved ones,
knowing the ridicule that they might face from peers," Touchette said.
