Whiz Kid: Shawn Stone Wins North Canton Ministerial Association Scholarship

Meet Shawn Stone, a young man who devotes his time to service and giving back to others

This week's Whiz Kid comes to us from Kristie Woods, director of development and community relations at St. Luke Foundation and St. Luke Lutheran Community

  • Shawn Stone.
  • 2011  graduate and son of Christopher and Dawn Stone of Uniontown.
  • Stone will attend this fall because he is drawn to Walsh's service-learning philosophy.

Stone is the recipient of this year’s $1,000 scholarship from The North Canton Ministerial Association. While he met all the requirements and was impressive on paper, he was even more exceptional during the interview, Woods said.

Every year, the association offers the scholarship to a graduating high school senior who has been an active member for at least two consecutive years in North Canton Ministerial Association Member Congregations/Outreach Ministries.

Stone dedicated his time to giving back at through missionary trips and volunteer work.

"Shawn is a wonderful example to his peers (and us older adults, too). His faith, compassion and overall charm will lead him to achieve great things. I enthusiastically recommend Shawn Stone for The North Canton Patch Whiz Kid," Woods said.

All kids have something unique about them. What's unique about your kid? Anybody can nominate a Whiz Kid and even a group of kids as well. Email Lisa Lynch-Frank at lynch821@gmail.com with the name, key to awesomeness, a quote on why you're proud and a photo. It's very simple and takes 10 minutes of your time but is a great way to tell our youth how awesome they are!
