Whiz Kid: Andrew Heck Wishes for a Baseball Field of Dreams

Andrew Heck, a wish recipient for Wishes Can Happen, is happiest when he's helping others excel on the baseball field

This week's Whiz Kid comes to us from Madelyn Sweeney, community relations director for .

  • Andrew Heck, 16.
  • Attends Central Catholic as a sophomore.
  • Andrew was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and has endured many painful open heart surgeries.
  • He loves to play baseball but is unable to play on the team. This doesn't stop Andrew from being involved in the sport, though — he helps coach the team. 
  • Friday is the fifth annual Wishes Can Happen Golf Scramble at the in North Canton. Andrew is the wish recipient, and all proceeds from this event will go toward building Andrew the baseball field of his dreams.

“Andrew is passionate about baseball and doesn’t let his heart condition stop him from doing what he loves," Sweeney said. "He is one of the kindest and most optimistic young men I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. is building a baseball field of dreams at Andrew’s home, where he plans to invite little leagues to play and receive coaching.”
