What's Going on Tonight? Share Your New Year's Eve Traditions

Folks in and around North Canton know how to do New Year's Eve right. Many will stay in with loved ones, while others opt for the nightlife

New Year's Eve traditions run strong in North Canton. Some residents snuggle around the TV with their kids and watch as Dick Clark hosts another "New Year's Rockin' Eve." Others immerse themselves in the party scene with their friends or go out for brews as they watch the Times Square ball make its descent.

Here's what some area residents said they'd do tonight to ring in the New Year.

  • Brad Cook, a North Canton resident, will carry out his tradition of seeing his godchildren tonight. He said he'll probably order Chinese food and stay in.

"My wife and I are godparents to this set of twins, and the reason is my wife worked with their mother at Plain Local Schools. When the twins were born we were chosen. ... They're in college now. We started this tradition when they were about 5 years old."

  • Joshua Wigal, a Hartville resident, also will have a low-key celebration.

"I'm getting my girlfriend and going back to my house and pretty much just watching the ball drop. ... And try not to eat too much food."

  • Karen Black and 7-year-old daughter Erin Black, of Uniontown, will use tonight as family time. Karen and her husband have three children.

"We're just staying at home with our family and watching the ball drop on TV," Black said.

  • Nathan Sikora of North Canton will invite guests over, but he said things won't get too crazy.

"I'll just have some people over. That's it. We've got some young kids, so unless someone can watch them, we're stuck at home."

  • North Canton resident Jake Burton likely will have the liveliest night of them all.

"I'm going up to Kent. My friends are having a house party there, and I think we're going to the bars after that."
