North Canton Man Gets Involved with American Marketing Association

Resident expands his network and gains marketing knowledge by leading local chapter

North Canton marketers and entrepreneurs can learn about marketing tactics and network with like-minded professionals with the Akron/Canton chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA).

“There’s a lot of great North Canton companies with quality individuals at these events,” said Paul Douglas, president of the Akron/Canton chapter of the American Marketing Association. “AMA provides an opportunity to meet representatives of these successful companies.”

Douglas, a professional networker and North Canton resident, enjoys getting involved within the community and attending networking events. Douglas has been a member of the organization for about three years. He said it’s a great way to keep informed of current marketing trends.

“People are always surprised by my very active involvement because of my profession in financial services,” Douglas said. “The organization gives unique opportunities to educate people on marketing strategies, provide a form of networking and develop a personal brand.”

Douglas is a financial adviser for UBS Financial Services. A friend had introduced him to AMA, and Douglas jumped straight into leadership. His first year, he was vice president of membership and then took on the role of president-elect during his second year.

AMA is a resource of marketing information. It helps professionals to continue to build their network and education.

According to a statement from the Akron/Canton AMA website, “(it's) a professional organization that enables personal and professional development through interaction with a diverse membership, encompassing a broad spectrum of marketing disciplines and experience.”

Douglas is promoting the organization’s most recent event with guest speaker Matt Bailey of SiteLogic, who will speak about Internet marketing. More information will be posted soon on www.akroncantonama.org.

“Companies and individuals in the North Canton area will benefit from this event,” Douglas said.  “It’s an event for people who are looking to market themselves effectively through online tactics.”

Married to Nicole Douglas for four years, he moved to North Canton in March of 2007.  Both are involved within the community.

“My wife and I are also involved with ystark! and feel it’s important for others to get involved with the community, too,” Douglas said.
