MAPS Air Museum, Heritage Society Receive Stark Community Foundation Grants

The foundation awarded grants — ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 — to a few businesses and organizations that North Canton and its schools

The Stark Community Foundation awarded grants to 36 businesses and organizations from around Stark, Tuscarawas and Summit counties, and a few North Canton organizations are in the mix.

According to an announcement posted by Patch reader Amy Krebs on the North Canton Patch announcements page, a handful of Stark County locations benefited from this recent round of Stark Community Foundation grants.

  • The North Canton Heritage Society received a $25,000 grant in order to make their new location handicap accessible.
  • MAPS Air Museum received a $30,000 grant that supports field trips to the museum (free to the school and students) for students around Stark County, including history classes from Hoover High. MAPS received a similar grant from the Foundation last year, and several classes from Hoover High had the opportunity to go on the field trip.
  • Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio, Inc. received $50,000 for the Junior Achievement Means Success program. Although this grant will support their involvement in schools throughout the county, they have programs in the North Canton School District.
