Grab & Go Kids Planner: Summer Fun and Learning
Here are five suggestions to keep your child's nose in a book, mind working and smile beaming brightly
Believe it or not, the school year is coming to a close. The following is a list of educational and entertainment ideas to keep the kids busy and families making memories together. All summer, our Grab & Go Planner will suggest children's programs for learning and family-friendly activities and places in North Canton or in close proximity to try out. We want North Canton families to enjoy the season to the fullest!
1. Summer Reading Challenge Kick-Off
When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday at
Why Go: Children ages 8 to 12 will learn how to participate in Borders' reading program this summer. In addition, the event will serve as a celebration of this month's release of the movie Judy Moody and the Bummer Summer, and the joys that come through reading.

2. Library Programs Sign-Up

When/Where: Daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting, at Memphis Kiddie Park, 10340 Memphis Ave., Brooklyn
Why Go: The Memphis Kiddie Park, located in the Cleveland area, truly will put a smile on the face of your little one. The park offers 11 amusement rides for children under 50 inches tall, a concession stand, miniature golf course and arcade. Parents even are welcome to join their youngsters on a few of the rides, including the roller coaster!
Pricing: Buy a book of 25 tickets for $25.25. Most rides require just one ticket per child.
4. Pioneer Waterland
When/Where: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, starting June 11, at Pioneer Waterland, 10661 Kile Road, Chardon
Why Go: Located just east of Cleveland, the outdoor water park offers numerous water slides, including speed slides and an enclosed slide, and a 3-acre activity pool. The facility also features basketball courts, an arcade and a mini-golf course.
Pricing: Admission to the park is $19.95. Children under 40 inches tall are free.
5. Little Explorers: Bees
When/Where: 11:15 a.m. to noon June 8 at Stark Parks' David Fichtner Center in Hartville
Why Go: Children in first through fifth grades are welcome to attend the program to learn all about where honey comes from. Participants will collect bees outdoors and learn to identify the different species.
