250 Joined Together for the Moving Forward for Mental Health Walk

The Stark County Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness  (NAMI) welcomed more than 200 supporters to its annual “Moving Forward for Mental Health” walk on Saturday, October 12 at Hoover Park in North Canton, OH.

More than 250 participants, wearing yellow NAMI shirts, boosted their physical and mental health on the 2.8 mile walk through North Canton and the Hoover Park Connector Trail, while raising awareness and funding to support education, support and advocacy for those touched by mental illness in our community.

“People touched by mental illness – those struggling personally, their families, caregivers, health care professionals and friends -- joined together to raise awareness for this illness that affects one in four people in this country,” said Jennifer Powell-Campbell, NAMI board president and volunteer event chair. “It was a powerful sight and a celebration of the positive impact that education, support and advocacy can have on the lives of those touched by mental illness.”
