Hi, I'm Christina. I'm the community relations manager for the North Canton Public Library.

North Canton Public Library Offers Halloween Activities for the Entire Family

Fall is one of the best things about living in Ohio (at least in my opinion!). The weather means Halloween is approaching and the library has all kinds of entertainment for the holiday.

You can bring your entire family to see the Graveyard Rockers, Northeast Ohio’s favorite rockin’ Halloween band, in concert at the library. They’re back by popular demand Wednesday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. You can see a clip from last year's performance here. Reserve your space by calling 330.499.4712 x311.

We have Halloween parties planned for children and teens. Preschoolers (ages six and younger) are invited to dress up for a party October 27 at 10:00 a.m.  Slightly older children (ages kindergarten through second grade) will have their costume party October 31 at 4:30 p.m.  Teens are invited to celebrate the holiday with a Murder Mystery Masquerade October 29 at 5:30 p.m.  Register for the children’s parties at 330.499.4712 x318 and the teen party at 330.499.4712 x 311.

In addition to our fantastic Halloween themed activities, the North Canton Public Library is here to keep your family entertained throughout the Fall. We know cabin fever can set in quickly, and we have solutions!

1. Plan a TV Free Weekend

  • Order a travel tote filled with fun activities
  • Put on a puppet show using our puppet pals
  • Attend one of our special programs
  • Spend a morning playing and reading in our children’s department

2. Host a Halloween or Thanksgiving Movie Marathon

  • Borrow a selection of DVDs from our children’s department
  • We have a large collection of holiday themed television episodes, movies, and cartoons

3. Children’s Cookie Baking Party

  • We offer a large selection of children’s cooking books
  • Take it to the next level and package cookies for gifting, using ideas from our craft books
  • End the party with hot cocoa, cookies, and a children’s story related to baking or eating sweets

4. Enjoy a Theme Day

Our themed activity kits will help you get started.

  • Snow - using the snow activity kit, read books, play games and complete activities. Then bundle up, build a snowman, go ice skating, go sled riding, and warm up with a cup of hot cocoa.
  • Creative - using the creative activity kit, read books about creativity, complete art projects, and then visit the Little Art Gallery, go shopping for handmade items (excellent holiday gifts!), and talk about creative people in your life.
  • Bugs - using the bugs activity kit, read fiction and non-fiction books about bugs, look at pictures of bugs, and have fun with our microscope, then go for a fall hike and see how many bugs you can find and (gently) identify. End the day with a bug themed movie such as “A Bugs Life.”

Our library staff can help you plan the perfect fall day! Stop in and let us help you.

I love that you guys are having the Graveyard Rockers back. They were so much fun last year, and the kids' Halloween costumes that night were so adorable. I hope it's another success!
