Washington, DC — Today, U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) released the following statement on passage in the House of the Fiscal Year 2014 budget:
“For the third consecutive year, House Republicans have passed a responsible budget that reaches balance without raising taxes on a single American and by making more than $4.6 trillion in cuts to federal spending. By contrast, for the first time in four years the Senate is poised to pass their own budget – one that never balances, despite $1.5 trillion in tax increases.
“Our budgets truly offer two visions for America. Our future is one with fewer taxes, less regulation, lower levels of debt, more economic growth, greater employment opportunities, and a strengthening of social programs like Medicare and Social Security. The Senate budget would lead to tax increases, greater regulation of American industries, massive and damaging levels of debt, a stagnant economy, hundreds of thousands of jobs lost, and the eventual insolvency of key programs Seniors rely on.
“Given those options the choice was clear, which is why I was proud to again support the House Republican budget. I ask Senate Democrats and President Obama to end their reckless tax-and-spend policies of the last several years and join the House as we strive to build a better and more prosperous America.”
