WATCH: 'Into the Woods' Brings Loads of Laughs to North Canton Playhouse

The Playhouse debuts the side-splitting musical Thursday night

This Thursday, Director Brenton Cochran brings you a rip-roaring musical about a rapping witch, a Little Red Riding Hood who wolfs down goodies and lots of other fairy tale characters gone awry. Tickets for the North Canton Playhouse event cost $13 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Georgia O'Keeffe Inspired Flowers Just In Time For Mother's Day

Seventh grade students at NCMS completed flowers in oil pastel just in time for Mother's Day. They spent two weeks creating these works of art and learning a little about the artist Georgia O'Keeffe.

Hoover High Takes First Place at Diebold 'Paint Off' (With Photos)

A team of five Hoover High students competed against four other groups and took home the first-place prize Thursday

Editor's note: The following information was provided to us by Hoover High art teacher Christopher Triner. Congratulations to Hoover High artists who participated May 10 at the first Diebold "Paint Off." A team of five Hoover students competed against four other groups from local high schools to complete a 4x4 mural that depicts the student's concept of the assigned theme of innovation. With a time limit of two hours and 15 minutes to plan, lay out and paint their concept, our students moved quickly to blend the imagery of the mechanical past with today's digital age. Even people who aren't big fans of the movies know the Imperial March music means something wicked this way comes. Kent State Professor Flies to Every Ohio County

On May 13, Joe Murray of Hudson will begin his journey, which includes a stop right here in Stark County

Joe Murray, a Kent State University journalism teacher and pilot, will take flight on an adventure never done by anyone else — stopping in all 88 Ohio counties on the way to the Wright Brothers Airport.  "Murray ... will fly 1,670 miles across Ohio, landing in all 88 Ohio counties, after taking off from Kent State University's Andrew W. Paton Airport. He estimated the flight will cover about 26 hours in the air and take about a week to complete," according to a Hudson Hub Times story. “Professor Murray has combined his avocation — aviation — with his professional expertise in digital storytelling several times in the past, with great results for students and the school. WATCH: North Canton Playhouse Actors Rehearse for 'Spring Awakening'

Musical performances take place Saturday and Sunday at The Auricle in Canton

Actors from the North Canton Playhouse will hit the stage three times this weekend and next for their rendition of Spring Awakening. Written two centuries ago, the play focuses on teenagers discovering their sexuality while dealing with pregnancy, abuse and other issues that impact some youths in 2012. Because of mature content and language, the actors will perform the musical at The Auricle Live Music Venue in Canton. ArtisAlive Features Local Artists, Live Music: Cheap Date

How's an indie art show with live music and artist demonstrations sound? Just

Some of our favorite local musicians are hitting up ArtisAlive at Canton's Cultureal Center for the Arts this year, like Ashley Brooke Toussant and Dolly Rocker Ragdoll (both Saturday morning on the Pegasus stage). And artists? They're coming in droves.  You'll want to check out booths belonging to Sassy Sacks, Yellow Cake Shop, Whimsyfolk and Bad Apple Originals. And that's just to start off. The place will be packed with more than 40 artists selling their wares, so there's plenty to keep you busy.
