North Canton Mayor David Held, right, proclaimed November as "North Canton Playhouse Month." With Held are Gale Spatafore, left, a member of the theater’s Board of Directors, and Mary McManaway, theater founder. The North Canton Playhouse, in its 37th year, is one of the busiest theaters in Ohio. Its two locations are the mainstage, located inside Hoover High School, and the Youth Theatre at 1210 South Main St. N.W. The playhouse’s on-stage productions keep things very busy each season with a full line-up of drama and musical theater for all ages. The theater is also active in the community, as well as in surrounding counties, with the outreach program Spotlight On Youth. The program uses dramatic presentations to help educate on topics such as domestic violence, eating disorders, social issues, animal rights and bullying.
