On the Agenda: Council Looks at Little League Lights Again
North Canton City Council will meet tonight in Council Chambers. Take a look at this update to see what's on tonight's agenda.
North Canton City Council continues its discussion tonight about whether three North Canton Little League fields should have overhead lights.
The meeting takes place at 7 p.m. inside City Council Chambers.
Residents had showed to the Jan. 14 meeting and shared their concerns about it, and others shared why they thought the fields need the lights.
Council members will first meet at 6:30 p.m. in executive session (not open to the public) to discuss personnel matters pertaining to the employment of a public employee.

NC government is confusing. One week it is tooting the horn that it does not have $ for preforming such duties as repairing roads/water service then the next week it is spending (or considering to spend) $ on something that is very discretionary. Field lights are nice but is this like a family maxed out on credit cards, with nothing saved for the kids collage considering spending $ on a vacation?

Jim, if lights are installed at these fields, it will be paid for by private donations,

Councilman Peters
Wonderful. I did not read in the article that donations would pick up the entire tab. Not much for council to discuss in that case. Let them light up all the parks!

Who is reaponsable to pay for the electric used by the lights?

Allen, the little league will also pay the electric bill. However, my biggest concern is on street parking and parking near the sidewalk on Maple st. This has created a very dangerous situation. I will be pushing for more strict enforcement on this issue. I have also heard complaints on the noise from the loudspeakers, I believe this can be addressed easily, so the residents that live near the park can sit outside their homes in peace...
Thank you, Daniel J Peters(council-ward 2)

Noise pollution is getting to be an issue in NC. The load speaker from this park is clearly heard over to Schneider St. The stadium speaker broadcasts even further. Quaker Steak noise resonates all over the SW side of town on a summer night.
