Moms Talk: Teaching Kids About 9/11
Do you leave it to the schools, or do you take it upon yourself to teach your children about 9/11?

Today's Moms Talk question is multi-faceted.
We want to know if you teach your kids about Sept. 11. If you do, how do you explain it to them? And what lessons do you want your kids to learn from the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath?
The second part of the discussion revolves around the topic of 9/11 in schools. Do you leave it up to the schools to teach your kids about it? If so, what kinds of activities or lesson plans have you seen them working on?

I can't believe it has been a decade already. That tragic day will be one forever etched in my memory. My husband and I were only 20 when it happened and now have three children of our own. As the terrorist attacks of 9/11 are being talked about more and more, due to the 10th anniversary, I may have to explain what happened to our preschool-aged daughter very soon. I would appreciate advice on how to address it. It is very hard for me to explain hate, destruction, sadness and loss of such magnitude to my daughters.
