North Canton Police are looking for two suspects who reportedly broke into an Applegrove Street apartment early this morning, robbed the resident and guests at gunpoint and fired a shot into a ceiling.
In a press release issued this morning Chief Stephan Wilder said the resident of 154 Applegrove St. N.E. called police at 1:18 a.m. to report the home invasion and gunpoint-robbery.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the front door to the resident’s apartment was kicked in and two black males entered it both holding handguns on the victims. They ransacked the apartment (and) robbed them of personal items and any money they had,” Wilder said.
He said it is believed that semi-automatic handguns were used to threaten the victims, who were accosted but not injured. While in a back bedroom, one of the robbers fired a bullet into the ceiling.
The robbers fled on foot with a small amount cash and stolen items. Wilder said officers searched the immediate area for the suspects with assistance from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, which sent two K9 units to help track the suspects.
“At this time it appears (the) suspects for unknown reasons targeted the victim’s apartment,” Wilder said.
Police released these descriptions of the robbers:
- A black male, 5’10” to 6’ feet tall, heavy build or stocky, wearing all dark or black clothing, black baseball cap and hoodie.
- A black male, 6’ or taller, skinny, with a goatee, wearing all dark or black clothing, black baseball cap and hoodie.
