Kermit was wrong. It's easy being green. The Stark County Educational Network for Environmental Sustainability (SCENES) developed a website in 2011 promoting Stark County’s sustainability, www.starkscenes.org. Recently, a new section was added devoted to local food, which is fresher, uses fewer resources and is more environmentally friendly. Local food also connects community members and supports local economies.

The website has an abundance of local food information including

• an inventory and map of farmers’ markets in the area

• a directory of local food producers and vendors

• a fresh food guide that displays the peak availability of more than 70 varieties of vegetables, fruits, and food products produced in the region

• information on environment topics, educational opportunities and local “green” groups

• green curriculum

• information about North Canton's Green Business Roundtable
