North Canton, Ohio (June 27, 2012) — My Team Scoop, www.myteamscoop.com, a free website service that allows coaches to communicate via text and email to team members and parents, is ready for launch.  Any type of sport or team, including youth, community, club, and high school leagues can utilize this free website.  It’s as simple as creating a team and inviting members to join the team.   

Bob Behringer, creator of My Team Scoop, recognized an opportunity to develop such a site based on his own experiences of managing water polo and track teams while trying to keep up with his two, very active daughters’ teams.  “Communication became problematic as a coach and a dad,” says Behringer.  “My Team Scoop offers its members the convenience of having team information pushed to them.  As a coach, it’s ideal to not have to worry about forgetting to add someone to an email or text, especially for a last minute game cancellation or venue change.”

Being the CEO and President of Presteligence, an industry leading software development and service provider to newspapers, afforded Behringer the capacity to take a chance on something outside the norm for his company. “The idea evolved from concept to fruition within a year thanks to my devoted and talented staff,” says Behringer.  The intent was to create a consumer based service that made it more efficient for a coach to communicate as well as a portal for team members, parents, and fans to be able to look at pictures, schedules, and other team information.

Having the wherewithal to create, design, develop, test, and launch new technology is nothing new for the 18 person staff based out of North Canton.  Since 1990, they have been serving the newspaper industry with innovative software solutions geared toward creating efficiencies within prepress and advertising production environments and more recently expanded to mobile websites and applications. Leveraging this experience played a vital role in the development of My Team Scoop, particularly on the mobile-side.  “We expect a large percentage of the site’s traffic to be coming from mobile devices,” says Behringer, “so it was important to design both a regular website and mobile website.”  Members can join, view, comment, and receive alerts via their smart phones.   

My Team Scoop benefits both the coaches, teams, and fans.  The coach is able to communicate through one channel without having to maintain everyone’s contact information.  The team benefits through sponsorships and fundraising. Fans benefit through local retail advertising specials.   “Our ultimate goal is to award team members with geo-targeted, pre and post-game coupons to locally sponsored establishments as well as provide unique fundraising opportunities for the teams,” adds Behringer.

MyTeamScoop.com allows anyone 13 years or older to create an account and/or team, invite members to the team, set up a team roster, add to the calendar, and post pictures.  Coaches have the option to making the team public or private and if it’s a youth team, a parent can add their child’s name to the roster.  Coaches can then convey last minute messages to its members through My Team Scoop. 

Although anyone can visit the site, register, and create a team, Presteligence plans on working closely with local sport organizations in its initial launch. This controlled environment will allow Presteligence to get feedback from people using the site.  Ultimately, Presteligence will partner with newspapers to promote My Team Scoop.  “Our technological background gives us the means to develop new services but we will rely on the newspapers’ sales expertise and connection to the community to find ways to monetize it as the site progresses and gains traction,” says Behringer.
