The North Canton City School District will offer early childhood screenings at the Mary L. Evans Early Childhood Center, 301 Portage Street NW, March 18.

The screenings are for children 3 or 4 years old who are residents of the North Canton City School District and are suspected of having a handicapping condition, according to a North Canton City Schools news release.

Screenings are available for parents who have been told their child’s development is not typical for his or her age in the areas such as vision, hearing, speech and language development, motor skills, cognitive development and social functioning. Special preschool services are available for children who qualify. The screening is not to determine kindergarten readiness.

Children will be accepted on a pre-registered basis only. Brochures became available Friday at all North Canton City School buildings, the North Canton Public Library and area preschools and pediatric doctors’ offices.
