Distinguished Faculty and Staff Named at Stark State College
Stark State College recently named its top faculty and staff members for 2011-2012.
Michael Gruich, DC, instructor of anatomy and physiology, earned the Distinguished Teacher Award; Jane Biehl, adjunct instructor in social sciences, received the Adjunct Excellence in Teaching Award; and Jenn Yohe, health sciences administrative assistant, was chosen for the Staff Excellence Award.
Gruich attended the University of Akron and received his chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta in 1988. He opened a chiropractic office inFairlawn and is now a member of its board of directors. He has taught chiropractic techniques and given spinal health and safety presentations in the community as well as served as chiropractor for the Buchtel High basketballteam. He has been an anatomy and physiology instructor at Stark State since2008 and a full-time biology department faculty member since 2010. He and his family live in Wadsworth.
Biehl has taught in theeducation/American Sign Language department at Stark State for the past sixyears. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Heidelberg University, a master’s degree in library science from Emory University, a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Kent State University and a doctorate in counseling and human development services from KSU. She taught at both KSU and Walsh University and has worked as a librarian and a counselor. She and her hearing ear dog, Sita, have conducted community programs on hearing loss and service dogs. Biehl, of North Canton, also is a published author.
Yohe is a Stark State alumna with an associate degree in applied business – office administration. For the past five years she has worked as an administrativeassistant in the Health Sciences Division at the College. A licensed Realtor, also had put her degree to work at Hammontree & Associates, Camelot Music, Charter One and Time Warner Cable. Yohe and her family live in Jackson Township.
